BREAKING UPDATE
Yesterday, at around 3:00pm, a group of U.S. Senators, lead by Senator Bill Menendez (D-N.J.) asked for the ability to bring to vote S. 1610, the Senate version of H.R. 3370, an act to delay rate increases in the Biggert-Waters Act.
Unfortunately, Republican U.S. Senator Pat Roberts blocked the ability for a vote in the U.S. Senate on the bill. Roberts said, “This bill has not been through the committee process, we must ensure that all members have opportunity to weigh in.” This does not mean the bill is dead, however it is hard to see how this will pass this year with only this week left before the U.S. House leaves until 2014.

We are very happy that both of our U.S. Senators, Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey, stood with Senator Menendez to call for a vote.

However, we are very disappointed in the decision of Senator Roberts to block such a vote.  Below is a link to contact the Senator.  Please contact him to express your displeasure with his decision that will undoubtedly leave many paying the Biggert-Waters rates for the foreseeable future.
