SENATOR WARREN IN MARSHFIELD
Senator Elizabeth Warren will be holding a town hall meeting in Marshfield this Thursday, August 24th at 5:30pm at Furnace Brook Middle School in Marshfield. Senator Warren is co-sponsoring the NFIP Safe Act, which is currently one of several proposed pieces of NFIP legislation.
This legislation makes several positive changes to the program:
- Lowers maximum increase per policy from 18% annually to 10% annually
- Appropriates $1Billion towards grant programs to help fix problem buildings
- fund more accurate mapping of the entire country.
Remember, the NFIP expires on September 30th! We do not expect the program to expire. Congress is discussing a short term extension of the program. We would encourage you to attend this town hall to continue the discussion of a fully reauthorized NFIP!
UPCOMING MEETINGS
August 29th: The Town of Marshfield will begin its Hazard Mitigation Plan with the first public information meeting at 6:00 PM at the Ventress Memorial Library’s New Program Room. The Hazard Mitigation Plan is vital to the community for hazard planning and Community Rating Service (CRS) credits.
