TOWN MEETING TONIGHT
Marshfield Town Meeting starts Monday, April 24th at 7:00pm at the Marshfield High School. This Town Meeting, we are focused on Article 16 of the Annual Town Meeting warrant. The article reads:
“Will the Town vote to raise and appropriate or transfer the sum of $35,000 for an updated Hazard Mitigation Plan as required by FEMA, or take any other action relative thereto.”
FEMA requires our community to have a Hazard Mitigation Plan in place to receive certain types of grant money, for example the Federal Mitigation Assistance grant and gives better credits to the Community Rating System program which helps reduce premiums. This plan is required to be updated every 5 years and takes roughly 2 years to update. Marshfield’s plan is due to expire in April of 2018
