State Wide Outreaches Will Assist Homeowners in Learning About Flood Claims, Elevating Homes, And Post Disaster Resources The Massachusetts Coastal Coalition is hosting two local outreaches to assist communities in the wake of winter storms. The MCC has partnered with both local communities, State Agencies, and other non-profits to bring many needed post-disaster resources to our flood damaged communities. The outreaches will help residents who sustained damage during our historic winter nor’easters, or residents who want more information on flood insurance and what to do after a flooding disaster.
SOUTH SHORE OUTREACH: APRIL 4th FROM 6:00pm to 8:00pm Ventress Memorial Library New Program Room, 15 Library Plaza, Marshfield Ma, 02050. Agenda: -Presentation on flood issues after a storm: Flood claims, what to do if you have been substantially damaged, how to elevate your building, and the flood policy -Overview on building elevations by Brian Baer, Executive Director of The Elevated Studio -Update from the community on post-storm actions -Panel of experts for questions- Including Eric Carlson from DCR -Workshop areas with several stations on Community resources, Claims, Insurance, and Elevations CAPE COD OUTREACH: APRIL 11th FROM 6:00pm to 8:00pm Cape and Islands Association of Realtors office, 22 Mid-Tech Dr, West Yarmouth, MA 02673 Agenda: -Presentation on flood issues after a storm: Flood claims, what to do if you have been substantially damaged, and the flood policy -Introduction to the State NFIP Coordinators office by Joy Duperault, Director of DCR’s Flood Hazard Management Program and State NFIP Coordinator -Update from the Shannon Jarbeau, CRS & Floodplain Coordinator for Barnstable -County on the status of the Community Rating System on Cape -Panel of experts for questions -Workshop areas with several stations on Community resources, Claims, Insurance, and Elevations
