Good Morning,

The Marshfield Citizens Coastal Coalition has some very important updates to share:

FEMA Meeting:
This Wednesday, September 4th, at Furnace Brook Middle School, Marshfield will be the official FEMA meeting on the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM).  There will be an informal map reading from 4:00pm to 7:00pm then a formal presentation by FEMA at 7:00pm with a question and answer session at the end.

MCCC Map Appeal Workshop
As you may know, we are in a 90-day appeal period for the FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM).  A successful appeal would lower the Base Flood Elevation (BFE) in certain areas.  It is our own personal observation that the Town of Marshfield does not have enough time to appeal the maps, simply because of the time it takes to move through government bureaucracy.  Because of that, we plan to make an attempt at an appeal.  To do this, WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Please attend our map appeal workshop on September 12th, at 6:00pm at Saint Anns Parish Hall, Marshfield.  We are asking people to bring an elevation certificate (if you have one) and a site or plot plan, as long as it has topography on it.   We hope to find errors with topography on the FIRMs.

Website Update
We have a new page on our website that is the most important yet.  The “What can I do?” page explains how you can help yourself and us through this process.  We have a form to fill out on this page to get us your elevation information if you cannot make the workshop on the 12th.  We also have ways to help your own individual situation as well.

As always, spread the word, attend our meetings, and visit the website for updates,
