The Dangers of Localized Flooding
The Dangers of Localized Flooding

In our recent summer months, the state of Massachusetts and all of New England has been hit with severe downpours causing localized flooding. And while some may say that flooding cant happen to them, what we see is “Where it rains, it can flood”. While some of our communities recover, there has been some misinformation about flood insurance, coverages and the resources to be able to recover.

The MCC has created a resource to help you understand localized flooding and correct information about flood insurance and recovery.

CBRA Zones Disappearing?

FEMA is proposing that, in November, Coastal Barrier Resource Area (CBRA) information will be removed from FEMA flood maps. This could cause confusion when trying to understand the risk of your property. We have uploaded guidance from FEMA about these changes and where to find the CBRA information.

FEMA Announces Opening of Grants

FEMA has announced the opening of the Federal Mitigation Assistance (FMA) and Pre Disaster Mitigation (PDM) grants. Because the March 2-4 storm was declared a Presidential Disaster for public assistance, we also have the availability of Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funds. We have uploaded guidance, but the program and process can be confusing. REMEMBER- To apply for any grants, you must go through your community. Contact us for additional guidance.
